We all know that racism is bad. The act of discrimination based on race or skin
colour is deplorable but there’s one thing that makes it worse. Political
correctness.

Political correctness drives racism underground. Obviously, people of different
races look different and have different customs and values but to make it
completely taboo to talk about it, means people only talk about it in private.

That doesn’t really matter if you have a shred of intelligence and racial jest
is just that but when you don’t have a brain then differences that are talked
about in private can bread true hatred.

For example, when reading an article about knife crime in the metro the other
day about knife crime they talked about a disproportionate number of black
youths being stopped and searched in a negative way. But that is a reactionary
response from the police as more black kids carry knifes and commit crime.

That sounds racist but it’s not. It’s a fact. Not talking about it means that
the issues behind it aren’t addressed. The fact that people born into poverty
are more likely to commit crimes and it stops people receiving help.

It also leads people to seek what they believe to be similarly minded people,
people like the BNP. We all need to be a little less politically correct and
more realistic in our approach to race, poverty and crime.
